ok, here’s whats wrong with all thoses guides to twitter. the one’s that tell you to follow everyone and retweet constantly and set up auto replies when people follow you and use auto updating services to post bullshit inspirational quotes in your absence.. they fucking work.
this dude http://twitter.com/waynemansfield is now the 4th most followed australian on twitter. and look at his timeline, auto RT, auto replies, auto inspirational quotes… why would anyone follow such an account?

sorry @rogerchristie but again, fuck that. i get so embarrassed when someone sends me a “thanks for following” reply or dm. i wonder what “how to master twitter” post did you read that from, kawasaki, brogan, or rowse? i am fully aware i followed you, cos i followed you. i don’t need some kind of grovelling thanks “and welcome to my wacky world, strap yourself in” message. sorry to be so abrasive, but after two years on twitter, i’m sick to fuck of seeing a post by an “expert” come out, and the next month watching every new person conform to said post. it drives me mental.

again, i’m probably contradicting someone here, but i cant stand seeing those “Welcome new followers @somebody and @someoneelse tweets.” They serve no purpose except to clog up a timeline.

have a bad day every now and then.
the quickest way to lose me as a follower is to greet every monday with a smile.. it goes back to that whole ‘human’ thing..

a quick contradictory tip to everyone else, i really dont reply to everyone that @replies to me, if i did, thats all i’d do all day. i prefer to just watch the tweets go by and reply occasionally. i know i lose followers all the time for this, but the people i know and have connected with know thats my policy, so they stick with me… i know personally i dont follow someone whose homepage is just a series of @replies, i just assume they’re an @reply spammer, (see also SEO) and that bores me..
